At this point the fake blood is finally out of my fingernails from Sunday’s Dismember the Alamo zombie walk to the Texas state capitol (which went off without a hitch mind you)  check out the coverage from the ever reputable Fox News Austin  and a plethora of great pictures on flickr

For all the scoop on this festival be sure to stay up to date with DismemberTheAlamo.com

One of the more attended movies I saw at this year’s Austin Film Festival was the Blair Witch Project esq Zombie Diaries.  The interesting thing about this film was it’s often confusing use of that good ol non linear narrative style we Americans have come to know and love in a post-Pulp Fiction world.  But rather than conversations about foot massages and pocket watches- this movie served up some ultra intense zombie action. Zombies were not the only bad guys either as this movie took the chaos theory of humanity to the next level with truly horrible human on human violence.  I had to look away at one point as fingers were lobbed off with pliers.  Zombie Diaries was as realistic as possible and only truly distracted me with its use of music early on and then the absence of it after that.

I am not certain the film will be available in American any time soon but looks like you can give Amazon UK a shot for it here.

TONIGHT: Check out Pathogen- the feature length zombie opus made by a 14 year old girl (who will be in attendance) -out at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at Lakecreek. Then- stick around for a nice and creepy 35mm print of Re-Animator!  It will scare you to pieces.
