showalter business- john

I love Michael Showalter. He was doing the lovable awkward social male character before Michael Cera, was able to glance at the camera with a self aware nod to the audience before Jim from the American office stole the hearts of office managers across the land and has been pronouncing words to a comical effect before Dane Cook. Big surprise. His absurdity has always impressed me and I along with hordes of nerdy fans seem to always be struck by everything any member of the State is involved in. Showalter has moved so far beyond Doug the ‘I’m out of heerrerree’ kid and excelled in bizarre and yet Americana leading roles in Wet Hot American Summer and the Baxter. If I could get a job watching episodes of Stella over and over again for some sort of medical study- I would die happy.
Showalter is entering the new era of indie comics to make a run at the ever-allusive comedy album. Eugene Mirman and Patton Oswald are doing it so why can’t he. Listen to these songs- the intro track is short but sets up the amazing Shatner meets Nicholson Baker track. I love it. The full-length album ‘Sandwiches and Cats’ comes out November 13th on JDub Records.
Comments
The stuff from this album is great. Michael Cera is great but Showalter is a real gentleman.
