Oh-K, so Austin is the live music capitol of the world. Uhhuh. And we are, apparently now, the festival capitol of the world. Right, makes sense. That doesn't change the fact that Fun Fun Fun Fest, on only it's second year, is already my most hotly anticipated festival short of SXSW (which only wins out because it's more than FFF's two days). This modest festival blew the fuck up this year by booking a shocking and awe inspiring linup of headliners, and a crem-de-la-soul-crem of the crop of local and smaller touring acts. Previous years have been solid, but this is going to make the rest of America and the world sit up and take notice.
As more and more bands were tacked onto the bill, and more and more sponsors came on the back up and reinforce the event, the more my mouth has been watering, as well should yours. If you live in Austin, you've already heard about it, but have you grasped the weight of it? Explosions? Cat Power (well, sooome people still like her)? New Pornograhers, Of Montreal, Battles, MoS, Final Fantasy? Come on. Even our faves like Car Stereo (wars), Moth! Fight!, and Okkervil are in there. All in two short days? How will they do it? I guess we'll see.
