the kala of money - luther (dallas,tx)

If there's anyone that's changed the way I listen to new music in the last couple of years, it's probably M.I.A. I wasn't really down with the 'hot-new' dance thing until she came along and pointed out that you can enjoy rap and dance music in a totally un-ironic way, changing my enjoyment of such music from novelty to serious listening. Yeah, I'm always a little behind, I know. Anyway, Arular was in some ways revolutionary, and in many ways classic, and it's about time we got something new.

I'll admit that I've been a little dissapointed in singles from Kala so far, though the Birdflu video Killed. These are a couple of tracks from the new record including the first track, Bamboo Banger, an alteration of Jonathan Richman's Road Runner, and the slow jam 20 Dollar. The record also features Nigerian MC Afrikan Boy, Tim 'Timbaland' Moseley and a group of Aboriginal street kids called The Wilcannia Mob (mob being a little ominous for a group of youngsters). Check these out, and I can't wait to get the whole thing in my hands.
