sunday scene - luther (dallas,tx)

Alright, so, the first time I heard Ryan Adam's lead single So Alive, from Rock&Roll, all I could think was "what the fuck are you doing? This is wrong!", though I turned out the enjoy that particular song, and none of the rest of the album. The first time I heard Phantom Planet's (yes, I like Phantom Planet, make all the fun you want, you know they're good) electro-fied Big Brat, I was also flabbergasted, but I enjoy that song very much now. It all makes me wonder is that's the route the new Rilo Kiley single the Moneymaker will go.

I'll admit, I'm still not the biggest fan of the majority of More Adventurous, being the most overdone and least pulled together of their albums, in my opinion, but the first time I heard this song, in the other room when my wife put it on, it's generic sound and general 'run of the mill'-ness had me wondering, literally and truthfully, if maybe it was the new single from some 'it' girl the likes of a Miss Duff or Lohan. No joke. But, like So Alive, it's damn catchy, and unlike anything Ryan Adams has done, it has a relatively sexy, porn star studded music video (that portrays their trade with pretty much no irony or negative connotations). Let's hope in August Under the Black Light brings us a post Rabbit Fur Coat coolness Takeoffs and Landings, or at least something a little less cheese-ball than Does He Love You, huh?

MP3: Rilo Kiley- the Moneymaker

Oh, and I have to share a couple of the You-Tube comments of the Moneymaker video, are these the new RK fans?:

SarahRaraPaul: "I never realized how much Rilo Kiley looks like Mischa Barton. o_O Scurry!"

Silver91: "that one riff reminds me of finger eleven's paralyzer. still, this is a good song."
