mohawk, mo' fun - luther

You can't say we never give you anything. Continuing to make your summer the best since the year you tried crack at summer camp, Party Ends is bringing you a lineup of zanie electronic wonder and magic from not one desert state, but two.
If you live in Austin, or are into the general gay extreme metal scene, then you are no doubt familiar with the a-bomb power of local harbinger of the heavy revolution Assacre.
Well, prepare to meet his much nicer, and equally scantily clad twin MVSCLZ. Sporting a manly stache and workout clothes, MVSCLZ doles out synth laden discotheque ready dance numbers focusing on all the things that are really important in this world, like going to the gym. Said to be quite the stage show (see video below for evidence), I'm sure it's destined to be as classic, entertaining, and ultimately bemusing as anything Assacre related.
In line with the electro-synthesis of the rest of this group is the Arizona hip-hopery of Bark Bark Bark (Retard Disco). You might recall my raving about the cut throat stylings of this Tucson youth recently, and since then the blogs have been all over him, including big boys like Stereogum. Heavy beats and conversely airy and lo-fi synths are plundered, cut up, and rearranged all over potential future classics like One Thing Stands and Haunts (the lead single off of the recently released full length of the same name), while Jacob Cooper, the sole permanent member, wails and moans lines between bouts of lazy-flo rap and smarmy half talk/singing. This will no doubt be a crazy live show.
Newcomers to the Austin scene, but already making a name for themselves are the young ladies of Lady Pterodactyl. The beat mavens compose infectious, heavy soundscapes that grow on you with every listen. The instrumental compositions flow from synthy Korg saws and squares to orchestral samples, overlapping and bouncing off and through one another in a disarming and charming way, equally appropriate for chilling out at home or blaring through a club. These are girls to watch.
And, as if that weren't enough, enter Austin's finest (possibly only) tape jockey, TJ Lazerphone. I have heard this guy a couple of times and am always blown away by his sets of looped lo-fi goodness, filled out with incidental sounds and morphing effects. Essential an electronic act more than a DJ, per se, you have to come just to check out his odd and nostalgic equipment including a Walkman or two and a long tube with a flared end used to make strange electronic noises (not a talkbox, I actually have no idea what it is, but it's awesome).
Throw in the fact that it's on a seemingly innocent Thursday night, the Mohawk's usual incredible sound and atmosphere, divide by their more than reasonable door charge, and multiply by as many High Life 40's as you can logically drink, and you have what adds up to a pretty damn incredible night.
