alamo daft house - john (austin,tx)

Everyone’s favorites robots made a movie! No, it’s not a Gondry exploration of mummies, swimmers and skeletons… Daft Punk have been there and done that. Their new film, Electroma, is hardly a dance-a-riffic music video; in fact- none of the music in the film is by Daft Punk. Instead it’s a drawn out story about two robots’ (Hero Robot 1 & Hero Robot 2 according to the credits) journeys to becoming human. Along the way there are Ferraris, explosions and extremely long desert treks! Apparently the avant-garde awesomeness was lost on the premier crowd at the Cannes film festival when most of the audience walked out of the screening. I take this to be a good sign! I take comfort in knowing that Daft Punk is pushing the limits of our feeble human souls- it's a nice alternative to the summer of threequls and sequels (Live Free or Daft Punk Almighty 13: Rise of The Silver Potter?)

I am happy to help bring the film to Austin for it’s regional premiere on the big screen at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakecreek! Along with Vice magazine, PartyEnds.com is going to do Electroma up proper on Tuesday, July 24th for FREE with live Daft Punk Dj Sets from Markus with a K and iheartcomix’s Ocelot. There will be giveaways, food / beer, and best of all: robot rock! Come see if you can stomach the ultramodern android filmic stylings of two French robots for free, on us! Did I mention that it is free?
