Big bad Anticon Records is back with a dope new act- THEE MORE SHALLOWS! And what do you know – they got them selves a myspace account. These three dudes make it look easy. Their music is somber, it’s lush, it’s unusual, it’s slow jam dancey and over all it is just plain radical. The new album is called the Book of Bad Breaks and is at fine retailers near you. When supporting Anticon Records I can’t recommend BackSpin Records enough here in Austin- it is the only store around with it’s own Anticon section! And Finally: I can’t get enough of the Silver Apples. This Late 60’s duo made amazing songs full of percussive beats and bizarre droney/Ray Manzarek-y synthesizers. I don’t fully understand “Krautrock” but I believe these guys qualify and there for I have come to the conclusion that it is not as bad of a genre as it’s name makes it out to be. This is coming from a guy who has casually accepted “grime", "freak folk", and "nerd core”. If you ever run across anything by the Silver Apples on vinyl pick it up for me, I’m good for it… In the meantime, get your psyhedellic shine on with these:
