sunday scene - luther (dallas,tx)
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I hope you're recovering from last night's 4th Draft Sessions along with the rest of the Austin kids who know what's up. I only wish I could have been there to see the Laughing not only tear it up with their own music, but improvise beats and songs for the likes of local lyrical sages Storm Shadow, Franco B, and CO2. A big thanks to any and everyone who was involved in getting the whole things off the ground for yet another successful flight including, but not limited to, Independence themselves, Raw Word Records, and, of course the bands. We love this shit.
So it's time for some stuff to watch and I thought, as it's just now officially Summer, with that oh so official solstice and whatnot, that I would pull out some movies that I'm excited about seeing in the near future. Our hot days certainly lend themselves to enjoying a nice long sit in a freezing movie theater. Having already been treated to some of the years (and history's) biggest blockbusters, all those III's, these are some films with the potential to be just as great, but possibly less profitable.
All I have to say is- 'Fuck yeah'. If you don't like this shit, then there is something wrong with you. You by no means have had to have read any of the books to enjoy what has really been a stellar series of increasingly adult, but still enjoyably light hearted films (though I would suggest the books to no end as well, I guarantee you'll be surprised). I hadn't seen this new trailer till today, and it looks way better than I imagined they would have handled it. They always get the strangest directors for each film, and this one is no exception with former movie credits with names like Sex Traffic and Rank.
And if your a really big dork like me, there is stuff like this too:

"Who doesn't love you? Your George Michael!" Yeah, Arrested Development isn't on the air anymore, and though it's probably good that they wrapped it up before the possibility of making an episode that wasn't the best comedy on American TV possibly ever, we still miss it. At least some of the actors are going on to do some pretty great stuff, though, including little George Michael (Michael Cera). This new movie Superbad also includes another young comedian, Jonah Hill, who is great, as well as recently much more famous than when he was "that awesome guy from Freaks and Geeks", Seth Rogan. Oh, and don't forget to check out Michael's band.
Oh yeah, and this internet TV show is pretty good too:

And this isn't really a movie that's coming out any time soon, it's supposed to start shooting in 2008, I just found this cobbled together 'movie poster' of some of the actors leading the fan polls to play the leads in the Watchmen movie that is still on pre-pre-production. I'm down with, like, half of the choices. As much as I like most of the actors, I'm not a fan of Ed Harris as Dr Manhatten (though he'd be about a billion times better than the IMDB rumored casting of Keanu Reeves) or Raiph Fiennes as Ozymandias (IMDB's rumored Jude Law would actually be pretty good as this character, though hes much too young for it). Also, if they announce M. Night Shamalabamba as the director, I will kill him in his sleep before he can start shooting the film. This could go so wrong in so many ways (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Daredevil), I don't even really like to think about it, but if it's done right (V for Vendetta, X-Men) then this could be one of the best movies of the decade.

So this was really just kind of an article about how big a dork I am. Sorry.
