Party Ends

   So, I pretty much always wish I was a little more intercontinental, maybe I traveled more, maybe I spoke another language, whatever; but I've never really been all that into music in other languages. I mean, I love me some Stereolab and who doesn’t enjoy Sigur Ros, but I always want to know what's going on in a song, I think it's the same reason I'm so bad at listening to jazz- as much as I appreciate it and understand why other people love it, maybe I'm just too lazy to bother finding meaning that isn't shoved in my face, or preferably dangled in my vicinity on the spindly arms of some subdued lyrical prose. And that's why foreign dance music is so perfect, French, Japanese, funk carioca, it all makes you move (and a cute girls voice singing the other langueges helps when it's available too)!

   Enter Regina, not the most original name, but in their native Helsinki maybe it's the cleverest thing on the block. That aside, the Finnish girl vox over synthesizers and phat beats give this Euro dance pop an airy, almost mysterious vibe and transcends other such groups from other such foreign lands. You have to love a band who use their best mastering of the English language to list one of their influences as "great powers". This three piece, who seem to only play around Helsinki at the moment, has recently put out a new single, Oi miten suuria voimia! on Next Big Thing, which is as yet my favorite song by them.
