The new Say Hey Records release Fort Nightly by the White Rabbits is scientifically great.  It has the drunk chorus sing-alongs that kick off the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah debut, it has the Arcade Fire’s instrumentation, and the harmonies and speed that epitomize most everything I like in the wishywashy genre of “indie” rock. The White Rabbits debut has busted onto the college music charts with assertion and has made critics nationwide take notice- because systematically all the elements have been tested and tested in other bands. White Rabbits cobble together all the good stuff from all the good bands and then do wonders with their indie pop Frankenstein of gigantic marvelous sound. Layer upon layer of sound makes each song listenable over and over again. Full of grand energetic 3-part harmony filled songwriting; each toon stands alone as a great piece to an even greater album.

I missed them at SXSW but in my mind live- they are comparable to Austin’s Til We’re Blue or Destroy who headlined our amazing little night at the Mohawk last Thursday. Both acts have the piano parts, the obvious friendship and enjoyment of the music being played, and the polyvocal parts that can bring the house down with their immensity. White Rabbits do all the good things that everyone else does, only better, and it is awesome. Check them out on Myspace. Looks like they are about to make the rounds on an overseas tour - so get on the ball all you birds and blokes across the pond.

I like the music more than the album cover.

Oh the clever names, is there no end?
