Man, I gave it a little time, but I have to post this new music video from Denton's Ghosthustler. According to our dear freinds at We Shot JR this shit was all over Pitchfork yesterday, and for good reason. There I am thinking "This song is really cool, but they probably don't have enough money to make a really descent music video; maybe some abstract, pretentious student film with music over it, if we're lucky." Holy Gees was I wrong, the video for my favorite of their songs, Parkinglot Nights, gives the impression of a video cassette from the 80's you found in the garage while you were doing some spring cleaning and popped it in the old VCR only to find your favorite movie from your youth. Not quite as good as Howard the Duck or Garbage Pail Kids, but you get the idea. More important than the look is the fact that it shows that the members of the band don't take themselves too seriously, which could have impacted the music in horrible ways if they did.
Following a power glove on a comic, Punch-Out!, nighttime rampage, the video not only flaunts 8-bit hardware like the classic power mat, it also features the band performing through a wood chip TV, a break dancer, and even a parking lot at night! Please don't be annoyed by the lead singers resemblance to that guy from Entourage.
