   I was digging around over at MissingToof, and found this snotty, charming little group of London kids called We Smoke Fags. Now, that name could be taken many ways, but my guess would be that it was chosen to get attention, and be memorable, both of which it does admirably, and I like it; aparently they used to go by the Belmont Fantastics. They deal out what they dub "electro skunk rock" (I mean, I'm reletively up to date on those ambiguous titles, but I don't even know what that's supposed to mean); apparently it means grimy post-punk-electro with a more organic feel, and a little grittier edge than a lot of groups in thier arena. Laced with grungy guitar and bass, drum machines, and underridden by washed-out punky-teen vocals, they make the lo-fi elements work in thier favor and produce a sound that is obviously derrivative, but with more of a "wearing thier influences on thier sleeve" feel that is entirly enjoyable. They might be at home, elementally, with the Ed Banger / the Teenagers, too cool for school crews, which is good shit. Time will tell if thier music has the longevity of thier forefathers, but for the time being this is some fun, dark, youthful, British rock that you might be able to sink your teeth into.
