we knew, best new - luther (dallas,tx)

In case the news hasn't been heard by all, throughout the whole world, PartyEnds fav Dan Deacon just got 'best new music' from Pitchfork for his recently released Spiderman of the Rings. Damn strait. After that insane, galvanizing, and slightly odd performance at the PartyEnds & company 2007 SXSW day show Friday Fiasco, we might have deemed it 'best music ever', or maybe just one of the best live performances we've seen in a good long while.

Fraught with manic, deranged, lo-fi beats, synths, and fucked up sounds, Dan Deacon's music is a tangled, beautiful weave of vocoders and layered effects that is in one moment a tangled knot of flashing Christmas lights and the next a French braid of flaxen hair. We've been looking forward to this release for a bit, so join us in picking up a copy as soon as you can. Or you can buy one here.

MP3: Dan Deacon - The Crystal Cat

Take a look at some more photos of Dan going ape-shit at our party here and also, check out the rest of the PartyEnds photo section as John has been a madman on there of late and there are some great scenes from all the latest and greatest goings on in the greater Austin area. Please have a look-see.
