Party Ends

This fine Friday night, Austin has it’s arms full. 

   Prince Klassen has a tasty little lineup over at the Beauty Bar.  Ratatat and 120 Days are going to do their thing at Outside Emo’s.  But the real little gem of an evening is going down over at Emo’s Lounge – STAY GOLD! Ok, ok I am completely biased but bear with me.   

   First of all: shit is FREE. Think about how much more money you can spend on Lonestars with that working to your advantage.  Also- if you are bored at Ratatat– which, I hate to break it to you- after their last Austin show at La Zona Rosa… just might happen- you can just swing on over next door to the spacious Emo’s Lounge and catch some engaging music from Austin’s Crawling With Kings and the lush sounds of the Gardes all the way from Norman Oklahoma. Both bands have an excellent twang to them that will accompany the vinyl and MP3 styling of Stay Gold, who will be playing records before, in-between and after. 

   The Gardes come to our fair city with a sack full of White Ghost Shivers and Velvet Underground-e tunes. Think a more Avant Garde (get it?) Ween.

   Austin’s Crawling With Kings are able to boost the amazingly slick production work of all the good Austin bands these days thanks to Erik Woffard who has recently done work with PartyEnds favs Okkervil River  and the Laughing. CWK has a strain of that Okkervil sound in their blood along with the partial Wilco recombinant RNA/DNA. I hope no scientists are reading this because I have no idea what I'm talking about in regards to the genetic instructions for the development and functioning of living organisms.  CWK has an album out called Regarding Your Request for Closure that is chock-full of amazing lyrics and gentle instrumentation. The emotional homeruns it hits, song after song are sure to get this rookie release all sorts of accolades, and I am truly looking forward to seeing them for the first time live this Friday.

   Stay Gold has been dormant since SXSW so this will be a fun time, with all sorts of new juices to be squeezed over the floor of Emo’s lounge. Won’t you come and slosh around in it with us?
