clap! clap!? pleaseeasaur! pleaseeasaur! gpv! gpv! - john (austin,tx)
Congrats to Clap! Clap! for putting together a DAMN FINE CD Release show at Emo’s Friday night! You can read my review of their new album here.
You can read my praise for openers the Always Already here I have nothing but approval for other openers the Crash Gallery and Haunting Oboe Music too. Oh, and let us now forget about the go-to in-between sets of cool bands at Emo’s master Car Stereo (Wars) man; what a fucking great bill. Count on everyone in attendance to be as impressed by the performers as Chromeo was with the Clap! Clap! front man Josh’s dance moves at sxsw. Watch it for yourself here.
Emo’s has a great, slightly different show on Saturday night- the fantastical Pleaseeasaur! He’s opend for Modest Mouse and Death Cab For Cutie- you know his infomercial musical humor is good enough for you old man! He is a musical genius of comedy and will have you humming “no prob limo” over and over. His live show is multi media craziness that will leave your jaw wide open with awe. Warning- this totally cool show is coming thru to Rubber Gloves in Denton on Friday the 27th and Emo’s in Austin on Saturday the 28th.
Watch some of his videos, including an add for No Prob Limo, here.
ALSO on Saturday in Austin is the great Rosa, of Green Potato Ventures, birthday spectacular at the mighty Mohawk.

Rosa and GPV is a great alley to this little website and Texas music in general; I don’t have a hat large enough to tip in her direction to indicate such. Rosa has helped folks learn about some of the best local bands out there and this bill exemplifies that. Golden Bear are kicking ass and chewing gum on a national level right now, but the stand out acts on this bill don’t stop there: Low Line Caller and Loxsly are always the cat’s pajamas but White Denim is really the latest buzz worthy band- that is if Austin is equivalent to MTV in the mid 1990s. The Austin Chronicle listed them as an ATX band to watch and we all know how the Austin Chronicle looooves bands involved with white denim. Martin Crane and the Lemurs typical don’t fail to impress either. All acts have been hand picked by Rosa to get you canned, corked, tanked, primed, scrooched, jazzed, zozzled, plastered, owled, embalmed, lit, and potted with cheap Lonestar in style!
