draft sessions and some other junk - john (austin,tx)

   Draft Sessions is going to be amazing. There, I said it. For a $5 dollar suggested donation you will be getting the Lovely Sparrows, Markus with a K, AM Syndicate, free beer and the pleasure of brushing shoulders with some of your favorite brewers, from all over, because a huge craft brewers conference is going on in Austin. Belive it or not- some other folks around town had the nerve to plan some other things tonight, and I would be derelict in my duties not to mention these lesser events too.

   Minneapolis based Pitchfork-boner-inducing Tapes 'n Tapes turned heads all over the world with their 2006 release the Loon. You can hear Tapes 'n Tapes and many more in the new MLB 2K7 videogame, if you happen to be a badass and have an XBOX 360. Also, they don’t like to talk about Clell Tickle. PartyEnds favs the Laughing  have the privilege to be the local opening act at Emo’s which means the pressure is on for them to disprove the unnecessarily rude and resentful recent Austin Chronicle review of the band’s debut EP Tiger Cry. I think its funny how many people are so standoffish on liking this glock rock band. Commenters over at GvB  got up in arms, over at Austinist up in arms, and now the negative Aus Chron review… heaven forbid a band wear matching clothes and bring a tiger on stage with them.

 

   I wish the group the best of luck at the show. And seriously, Austin Chronicle- embrace the irony. Don’t be scared or Clell Tickle might show up in your kitchen to tell you about “Columbian neckties.”

   If I were Jamie Madrox from X Factor I would head over to UT’s Hogg Auditorium to catch Okkervil River play with a shit ton of strings and horns. I don’t need to explain how amazing this will be. You can grab tickets here.

My pride continues to swell for great music that comes from this city. I am also happy that I don’t have to mess with Nor’easters.
