tonights shin-dig - luther(dallas,tx)
Tonight is one of the better shows Dallas has seen in a while: The Shins with Viva Voce at the Palladium Ballroom; this Portland match-up should actually be pretty damn fun. I've never been to this Palladium, but with the imminent closure of the Gypsy and the loss of classic local venues like Trees, I guess I will have to suck it up and breach some new territory; it's like the first day of school all over again!
Viva Voce is a relative newcomer, but a nice pair-up in appeal for Shins fans. This husband and wife duo recently released Get Yr Blood Sucked Out, a dark and dense but melodic pop album featuring some truly mesmerizing guitar work from front-woman Anita Robinson and a nice backup rhythm-etc. section by Kevin; the pair harmonize and clap their way through a solid debut. I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle the performances live.

saw the shins on SNL saturday.... played with some girl who sang and played tambourine.... meh.
