malajube - john (austin,tx)
After listening to the new Malajube album Trompe-l’Oeil over and over again I only have one complaint: I can’t sing along because it’s all in French. Sub complaint- as a result, I have no idea about what the songs are about; but if I had to guess it would be girls, and making the most out of Canadian life. Malajube’s recipe is a 2 to 1 ratio of the Arcade Fire and Cursive with the 90-Day Men seasoned to taste. It’s indie pop but as smart and as complicated as it can come. This Montreal band has been dominating my car CD player so I am extra excited to see them at SXSW.

It makes me so happy to read this. Malajube is my favorite band. And unlike most of you, I'm glad they never surrender and keep singing only in french! They are about to succeed where no other Québec band has before and that is to make it in the very closed market that is the USA in singing only in French.
Can't wait to see them at the Café Campus next week!
