back on the wagon - john

I love Lagwagon.  One of the best Fat Wreck Chords punk bands ever.  I grew up on them and when they came into Emo’s in Austin in August with the Lawrence Arms. I felt it my duty to go and rock out.  I haven’t been paying close attention to their discography since about 2000 so I was ecstatic to hear so many old favorites throughout the night.

Their show was as tight as ever and the crowd loved a chance to form a Texas sized mosh pit to one of the greats.  Joey Cape will always hold a special place in my heart as far as front men go.  He is the shortest lead singer I have ever seen, and for that - you have to respect him.  Lagwagon is set to release a new album sometime in 2007.

Between Emo’s hosting Rancid about a month earlier and Lagwagon- I have gotten my fill of great punk bands from my past.  All I need is for NOFX and Face to Face to roll thru town (not on any sort of Warp Tour mind you…) and it will be a totally crazy nostogliaic year.

*look for a photo gallery soon, in the mean time, listen to these!
