single frame halloween! - john

Here’s a problem: Austin’s Single Frame are radically underappreciated. Why are they not selling out shows all the time? Why are Single Frame not huge- not huge like U2- but huge like the Walkmen? How can we get more people on the Single Frame train? Each album they have put out has been phenomenal. Each video that they have put out has been phenomenal. The basic components of the band are all in top-notch form. Amazing drumming singer, dark and delightful keyboards, guitar as a restrained background rather than as the lead paradigm of most rock bands. Then there is their top notch album art, lyrics, and overall the live thematic theatrics (broken TVs on stage, live type writers, projections that synch up) of Single Frame that should be blowing people’s minds on a tremendous scale.
They have toured in the states and overseas and gotten great responses everywhere they go. All it takes is a small taste to enjoy the fuck out of their energy. Get on the Single Frame train. Ride it!
Single Frame is an effortless band for me to recommend as far local bands go. I have full confidence in their likeability and their potential to take the CMJ charts by storm. You need to get on the train first though.

Now let me talk about my favorite director: John Carpenter. Sure he let some real horrible flicks get projected across the country (Ghosts of Mars), but god damn- has he ever made some fantastic gems (the Thing). I wish there were more career comparisons to draw between the band and the director but I find myself coming up short. The main similarity is that they both have an appreciation for the sinister and mysterious things in film and music and are both excellent at making an incredible and artistic final product.
Single Frame Drummer and Singer Adreon Henry is rumored to watch a horror movie everyday during October as a tradition so it makes perfect sense that he also loves John Carpenter. He and the band remixed Carpenter’s theme from one of his most well know films, Halloween, just in time for the upcoming holiday. It is absurdly good. Please download it now:
