Urban Pollution has a really great essay on the silliness of Weezer and the overall state of indie rock.

Austin photographer Chad Wadsworth has a nice Flickr account full of pictures of all the shows that you like. Most recently he has Wilco, Peter and the Wolf and lots more good shots from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Check it out here.

PartyEnds allies Awesome Inc are throwing one of the best parties at CMJ this month with one easily one of the best live bands out there Thunderbirds are Now! (see above video duuuuhhhh) the lineup is not yet complete though- they still need one more band to fill it out and it could be yours! Submit audio or video tracks that best represent your group's musical skills – the band that gets rated the highest by the imeem community will open the show. Pretty ballsy move Awesome Inc. Ballsy indeed. More details here.

Ghostland Observatory sold out a show Thursday night a few weeks ago for the outside Emo’s stage-- all in presale! It is rare that a band sells out a show on a Thursday, let alone a local band, let alone in presale. People are never going to believe that this band was ever not huge. Years from now I could give a tour of Austin clubs, point to them and say “I saw Ghostland Observatory there once before they were knighted and statues were erected in their honor.” Then everyone on my tour bus will gasp in disbelief. The duo are truly amazing showmen and more than deserve every ounce of popularity that they are in the midst of. KVRX is the only station in town playing these guys for the time being.
