dropping the science (of sleep)- john

This post is my passive aggressive roundabout way to urge PartyEnds Luther to go see this movie on his next upcoming art film date night. I am not really sure where the best point to begin is with why the film is excellent. With anything Michel Gondry touches you might as well just assume its better than anything else. Example: although we write about shitty movies, if you check back thru the PartyEnds archives- you will NOT see praise for recent Hollywood regurgitations Flyboys or You, Me and Dupree. Ladies, gay men: if I’m losing you – I will just come out and say it: you see Gael García Bernal ass.
In addition to silly partial nudity- you also see some mighty fine acting by the young man (Mighty fine, read: manic.) With an excellent ensemble cast, Bernal takes the audience on a clever, multi-lingual romp. This is easily one of the best films of the year in every aspect, acting, writing, visuals and overall creativity.
If I had the chance to do ANYTHING for Michel Gondry (drive him to the airport, loan him $$ in poker when he has a bum hand, a friendly heterosexual kiss on the mouth) I would do it. You should think about what sort of commitment you are prepared to make for the man who has brought you all of the best music videos ever.

You hear me Michel, you wacky, drumming, Bjork loving Frenchman?! You ever need a food tester to make sure there is not poison in your wacky French fries and French toast- I am your man.
Here is a great MP3 of the opening credit’s song; it is short and sweet:
MP3: Générique Stéphane - Jean Michel Bernard ![]()
The soundtrack can be purchased here.
I do not own this (yet) but according to one helpful Amazon reviewer, in addition to the amazing Velvet Underground rendition found in the movie, there are excellent ambient nature sounds (crickets chirping, sea crashing) on it! Your favorite!
Have a good day.
