Coldtowne Theatre’s See.Hear.Speak Festival is one of the nation’s most up-and-coming comedy festivals and it just so happens to take place right here in the Austin city limits. This is it’s fourth year of success thanks entirely in part to the hard work and talent of Coldtowne Theater. The festival is four nights full of comedy, film and art and once the second day has come to an end there will be much rejoicing. Enter this Club DeVille extravaganza that we are honored to be helping out with on Friday the 16th! !
The lineup will be
10:15 – Automusik
10:45 – Battle Rap Tournament
11:30 - IMAGINE “the” BAND
12:05 – Terp 2 it
12:45 – Baby Got Bacteria
Automusik blends Sprockets with Kraftwerk and the result is meta-deadpan hilariousness. Automusik has been one of Austin’s best-kept secrets for years and if they are opening a show- you know it is a good one.
Dust off your copy of 8 Mile because the evening will then feature a Battle Rap Tournament. Will this be silly or straight gangsta? Only time will tell.
Next up is Los Angeles’ IMAGINE “the” BAND, an excellent one-man act who pretends that there is a band backing him…(you have to “imagine the band”, get it?) This is Austin’s chance to see an act that has had clubs coast to coast cracking up trying to wrap their minds around the strangeness.
Then comes Austin’s premiere nerdcore rapper : Terp 2 it. This will be one of Terp’s first shows since he caught everyone from the press to the Dead Milkmen’s attention for his killer performance at Fun Fun Fun Fest. Just like the title of his new full-length album subtly implies through nuance and intellectual syntax, his “wiener touches the ceiling.”
Finally comes Baby Got Bacteria, a hyper stylized dancy/poppy novelty group. They are known for bringing stripper poles to their shows and have dancers showing off their moves on them. There will be plenty of wigs, irony, and overall rock.
For more information, check out the See.Hear.Speak Fest website and come check out the novelty Friday night!
