Is it too late to post Christmas songs?  Isn’t there an amazing month grace period? Let’s go with “yes.”   Los Angels band  Death to Anders has a pretty good one to throw into the ring brilliantly titled “OUR MANAGER SAYS THAT WRITING A CHRISTMAS SONG IS A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION (BECAUSE THE BLOGGERS WILL EAT THAT SHIT UP.)” It is so true.  The band is great for Pavement and Death Cab for Cutie fans and is still at an early enough stage in their career that you can latch on to them now and then disown them later once the mainstream finds out about them.

Their sophomore full length Fictitious Business is an elaborately well executed record that shows great maturity in subject matter and instrumentation, so it is nice to have this quirky titled post-ironic web-only single to remind everyone that this band is still what they should be: fun.  If only I had told you about this track before X-mas you would have cared much more- but the fact remains that Death To Anders is playing the indie music game well.  There are a ton of acts in scenes all over the country who try and pull off the coveted Crooked Rain Crooked Rain card but Death To Anders does it with flying lackadaisical colors and adds plenty of their own touches to make their album extremely compelling.  Check out the corny holiday track as well as a track from Fictitious Business…..
