Party Ends

Busy week, I tell you what.  Congrats to all the winners of the Free VIP Hollywood Holt tickets in yesterday’s contest!  You will have a blast!  On to a new contest.  One that is courtesy of new promoter in town (who is off to a killer start with this show and will be following it up later in the month with a killer dance party) Devial.  Friday night December 5th at Austin’s finest haunted club Elysium, Devial presents: the Paperchase, Astronautalis, Woozyhelmet, Bring Back the Guns and The Devival Players feat. Whiteside the Poet.  Shit will be bananas.  B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

I have three single guest list spots to give away for this, so email PartyEnds@Gmail.com with the title of one of my favorite Astronautalis songs “Trouble hunters” in the subject line.  Contest ends today (Thursday) at midnight.  Winners will be randomly selected by a method I like to call “kitty bingo.” Use your imagination. Good luck.

As if I haven’t engraved this into the brains of our 5 or 6 readers enough lately- John Congelton- the maestro behind the Paperchase (and who has worked with the likes of Explosions In The Sky, The Polyphonic Spree, and Modest Mouse to name a few) produced the new Astro record Pomegranate and helped take Astro to a whole new level of gritty instrumentation and a Tom Waitsian style of weaving tales of family, con men, opium wars, Washington crossing the Delaware and a Texas sized apple pie slice of good ol’ America.  God bless that record.  This show is going to be very interesting because I know both the Paperchase and Astronutalis both have their respective fan bases of a particular type of people. I am curious to see what the overlap is like and how hardcore fans of one will react to the other.  I predict everyone walks out of Austin’s premier goth club blown away.  And then maybe heads over to Kebabalicious.

If you like Astronautalis- you will LOVE Listener Project who is performing at the Birds Barbershop on South Lamar this sunday for FREE as part of Manfest 2K8.  You should come if you like free fun.  Oh, also: if you like Huey Lewis & the News- you will LOVE the New Drugs.  They are also performing at the Birds Barbershop on South Lamar this sunday for FREE as part of Manfest 2K8. Don’t shave, wear your finest smoking jacket and we’ll see you in the hot tub.  Luther and I worked hard talking to Bigfoot’s agent (he can be kind of a dick) but we worked out the travel arangments and hotel accomadations and I think Mr.Foot will impress you.  Ever since those beef jerky commercials he has really gotten a big head but we will show him a down hom Austin good time and laod him up with DeWars and Steamworks.  Seroiusly: Sunday afternoon at ManFest is where it’s at.  Get more info HERE.
