If you’ve lived in Austin, or Texas, or are generally in the know about descent music coming out of our great state, then you’ve probably heard the production stylings of one Mr. Danny Reisch. Outside of being the drummer for local big-boy bands like the Lemurs and Belaire, he’s also spent the last decade recording everything from film production to bands like What Made Milwaukee Famous and the Laughing and programmed samples for the likes of Andre 3000 and Jay Z. Well now he’s put a name, albeit somewhat redundant, to his many good deeds. Good Danny’s.
To kick off this new identity of sorts Reisch threw a tidy little SXSW party in the heart of 6th street and, in conjunction, released a generous, free compilation record entitled Good Danny’s Good Friends: Volume 1, which was available at the event. This is all fine and good if you were able to push your way through the chaos of last-last Thursday, but many of us simply couldn’t (and some of us had our own events to attend to. Achem!). But, Danny, being the good person that he is, has graciously allowed us access to a virtual version of the record in the form of some inter-streaming goodness.
“Nearly half of these songs on this comp are from yet to be released records by artists such as Suzanna Choffel, Brass Bed, The Boxing Lesson, Low Line Caller, The Bubbles, Hollywood Gossip, Golden Bear, Mr. Lewis and the Funeral 5, Black Before Red, Michael Kingcaid and many more.”
All of that, and it’s in a handy little pop out player, so you can go about your webby-business at the same time. So check that shit out, because it’s good. Hence the name.
