The dying art of the music video is approaching a depressing state, with budgets dropping, directors seemingly cut from the process, and distribution often buried in a single Myspace page. That’s why it’s so elating to see something as brilliant, low budget, and well directed as this new video from Portland’s Ramona Falls. The Victorian stock image animation tells a borderline psychedelic fever dream story of animals with human masks, guns that shoot birds of prey, and jungle duels, all set to an airy, Grizzly Bear-esque ballad. The masks almost qualify this as a Halloween connect, boo-yah.
Thanks for my good friend Erik Horn for pointing me to the sweet pick.
