So much buzz. Since August, the internet has been a-twitterin’ and the twitter has been a-internetin’ about London’s neo-R&B quartet the XX and with being that they seemingly launches out of nowhere (although they have been a group since 2005) I resisted the hype. That and I was too busy listening to Bill Callahan over and over again. I couldn’t be bothered.

The XX record (xx)continues to find itself making it a perfect soundtrack to a variety of days for me. Long day at work and want to unwind; throw on the XX. Rainy gray morning in Austin; throw on the XX. Recollecting a great Norm Macdonald show from the night before; throw on the XX. It’s mellow, melodic, modern, minimal, shy, poignant and as dreamy as James Franco- but with much more reverb.  And it is fun to sing Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game along to their track Infinity.  Ha.

If you happen to be like me and holding out against the popularity- give in. Most likely you already have.
