The new Andrew Bujalski film  Beeswax is kicking off a theatrical engagement at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, beginning this Friday October 9th. On opening night, Bujalski will be on hand for a Q+A along with as many of the local cast members as he can muster.

This movie is tricky for the reader not versed in Bujalski to get excited about, but let me tell you: it has twins, a wheel chair, and Austin backdrop and is sure to be one of the more understated, hip and touching films out there. Granted I have yet to see it- I am speaking from his track record and Mutual Appreciation being one of my all time favorites.  So simple and so catchy; the way a movie about good pop songs should be.

The New York Times got to check it out and stated that it was “…A remarkably subtle, even elegant movie. Its leisurely scenes and hesitant, circling conversations conceal both an ingenious comic structure and a rich emotional subtext…[Bujalski] is an artist who knows his business.”

So there. The film is also playing in Houston and Dallas soon so be aware and pass it on!
