Need a new place to e-hang with your virtual buddies and read your cyber novels? May I suggest the newly redesigned Dell Lounge? They have an interesting new series up called Dead Venues Live, where a historic/defunct music venue is revisited and re-imagined by having a new band perform at ground zero. Someone from the old scene is usually there to share memories also. It is an easy way to have your musical horizons doubly broadened by the collision of different generations of music in the same physical place. So far, the series has been hitting up significant venues in Austin, TX such as The Ritz, Liberty Lunch, Armadillo World Headquarters, and Club Foot. Well, where they once were anyway. Now they are everything from a movie theater to a bank and yes, even a parking lot. It is a very cool concept and I can’t wait to see what else they come up with! I heard that the original idea was to have up and coming bands dress up as zombies and eat the flesh of the owners of old clubs, but Michael Dell wasn’t down with it. This is a great compromise.
There is a really great moment in this short where Tim Kerr from Big Boys gives some sage like advice to the Strange Boys. God bless Big Boys. Learn all about them and their significance HERE.
This one is extra good too because you get to see Ume rocking out at the Frost Bank building. Too bad they couldn’t perform 33 stories up in the sky right between the big owl eyes….
Thanks to Austin Style Watch for tipping us off on this. Also- did you know that ASW is running a poll right now for best Austin music blog? What do you know- guess what little ol’ site is in the running?! You can cast your vote by clicking HERE and looking for the survey in the left hand column. (wink wink nudge nudge.)

Wow this was probably one of the best blurbs I’ve had the chance to read on the topic so far. I do not understand where you gather up all of your data but I am impressed! I am going to send some folks your way to check this out. Awesome, just plain awesome. I’m just getting into writing articles myself, nothing close to your writing skills (doh) but I’d love for you to have a look at my articles someday! right here
